Like last year, the Amelia Island Concours weekend (7-9 March 2025) will be a busy one.

FRIDAY (7 March) 1 PM – 5 PM Registration for the 2025 Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff Presented by Sunoco is still open, probably till the end of February. You must preregister online as there is no registration on the day of the show. This event is a ‘Cars and Coffee’ type of event allowing any number of Morgans to participate. If you have already registered, please watch your mail for an envelope from Classic Motorsports Amelia Kickoff. It will contain instructions for the Kickoff Show, a required windscreen sticker, a vehicle windscreen information sheet (to be filled out in advance), and a ticket for a gift bag.

The ‘Classic Motorsports Amelia Island Kickoff’ is held on the green space of Main Beach Park, a few miles north of the Ritz Carlton. It is free for spectators however there is a $45 registration requirement for folks wishing to display their vehicles. The Amelia Island Kickoff will happen rain or shine. In case of rain, bring an umbrella. Details are here: https://www.ameliakickoff.com/

There may be a special award for Morgans as MOGSouth is a featured club.

In order to allow folks to find this shows location and arrive together on the field we will rendezvous at the Surf Restaurant front parking area as we have in the past, (THE SURF RESTAURANT & BAR, 3199 S Fletcher Ave, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034). We will gather at 12:15 PM and leave for the Classic Motorsports Kickoff field promptly at 12:30 PM. We have to arrive before 1 PM or they won’t let us in!!

The Classic Motorsports Kickoff finishes at 5 PM and this allows us to have our traditional Friday Morgan Noggin back at the Surf Restaurant. The Noggin is open to any and all Morgan car enthusiasts, from all MOGSouth regions, and members of any other Morgan Clubs and will convene at 6 PM and go until . . . ? Folks can eat or drink (and pay on their own!!) as they see fit!! Just, please, be careful with drinking and driving!!

Just so you know the Noggin will be on the Covered Patio of the Surf, which is a separate restaurant operation from the inside restaurant. Somehow, we ended up inside last year by mistake. It was nice but it was not where we were supposed to be.

SATURDAY (8 March) 7:30 AM - If you have registered and your Morgan accepted to the Amelia Cars and Community event we will gather for Coffee and Muffins at Mary Pinkston’s house at 7:30 AM. Mary’s house is within walking distance of the show. If anyone who does not have a Morgan on the field needs a place to park close by to walk over please join us. Morgans will need to depart her house for the show field promptly at 8:15 AM to be entering the field at 8:30 AM. You will want to be in this convoy if you wish to be parked with the other Morgans. Mary has graciously agreed to allow those of us with luggage to leave it in her house while we attend the show. Upon returning from the show Mary has offered to have water and sandwiches available before we head home. She will email us her home address and a gate code to get into her subdivision about a week before the show

.

9 AM – 1 PM The Amelia Cars and Community Show will be held once again on the Ritz Carlton golf course as the Sunday Concours. By now you should have received your entry ticket with its QR code in an email from a source called Showcilx. Print it out as you must have the QR code ticket with you to get on the field. If you can’t find it please contact Jennifer Grosse, Concours Project Coordinator at jgrosse@hagerty.com as soon as possible. In addition, Jennifer has emailed me a tag that will need to be placed on your windscreen as well as a field map of the show

SUNDAY (9 March) 09:30 AM – 4:30 PM – The Amelia Island Concours is a tremendous showing of world class automobiles. If you have not attended in the past, you should consider it this year. It isn’t cheap but none of these big automobile shows are. (Just check the cost of Pebble Beach in Monterey California!) Amelia Island is as good a show as Pebble Beach, if not better. One of our own Morgan owners, John Bigler, will be showing his Morgan +4 Special in the Concours

Special Note: If you are arriving in Amelia on Thursday, 6 March, Mary Pinkston has offered to organize a dinner gathering for those interested. Please contact Mary in advance, directly at mepinks@yahoo.com or 615-788-5100.
